On the weekend of September 12th we travelled to the Ardennes in Belgium to meet with our team mates / fellow competitors due to join us on our 4 week adventure. We travelled via Norfolkline ferries as they have provided us with sponsorship for these trips. It was a superb weekend and was really nice to meet everyone and see all of the cars together. The weekend was made up of first aid training, an overview of the route and some GPS / tripmaster and roadbook training. Also throughout the weekend the cars were inspected by the touareg trail mechanics. We were advised of some recommended improvements, nothing to major, and we have completed most of these changes now.
Most of the teams have completed the trail at some point in the past so it was great to get advice and tips from experienced people and everyone was really friendly and happy to share their experiences which was encouraging.
We also recieved the official Touareg Trail stickers, which I have been looking forward to putting on the car, it was amusing to see everyones faces when recieving these, hardcore edition stickers. Normally the logos are camel silhouettes, however the hardcore edition seems to display a camel skeleton!
